Herbal Teas That Support Your Panchakarma Journey
When people think about an Ayurveda retreat in Sri Lanka, they often imagine relaxing massages, herbal oils, yoga, and healthy meals. While these are all important parts of the experience, healing in Ayurveda is also supported by many small daily rituals.
One of these is drinking Ayurvedic herbal tea.
At Peacock Ayurveda Garden, we prepare fresh herbal teas throughout the day for our guests. Every three to four days, we change the tea, allowing you to enjoy the unique qualities of different Sri Lankan medicinal herbs. These teas are served between meals and are intended to gently support your Panchakarma therapy, digestion, detoxification, and overall well-being.
Why Herbal Tea Is Important During Panchakarma
Panchakarma is a traditional Ayurvedic cleansing and rejuvenation program that helps remove accumulated toxins (Ama), improve digestion, and restore the body’s natural balance.
During this process, the body needs gentle support. Herbal teas provide hydration while delivering the natural properties of medicinal plants that have been used in Sri Lankan Ayurveda for generations.
Unlike ordinary tea or coffee, Ayurvedic herbal teas are caffeine-free and are chosen for their therapeutic qualities.
Beli Mal Tea – Supporting Healthy Digestion
Beli Mal (Bael Flower) tea is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular traditional herbal drinks.
It is especially appreciated for supporting the digestive system. It may help:
• improve digestion
• relieve constipation
• soothe the stomach
• reduce bloating
• support respiratory health, including mild asthma symptoms
Because good digestion is one of the foundations of Ayurveda, Beli Mal tea is a wonderful companion during a Panchakarma program.
Ranawara Tea – A Traditional Cleansing Herb
Ranawara has been valued in traditional Sri Lankan medicine for centuries.
Its many benefits include:
• supporting healthy blood sugar levels
• helping the body’s natural detoxification processes
• purifying the blood
• promoting healthy, glowing skin
• supporting women’s menstrual health
Its gentle cleansing qualities make it a popular herbal tea during Ayurvedic detox programs.
Soursop Leaf Tea – Fresh from Our Garden
Some of the herbs we use come directly from our own garden.
Our Soursop leaf tea is prepared from freshly picked leaves grown at Peacock Ayurveda Garden.
Traditionally, soursop leaves are known for:
• anti-inflammatory properties
• supporting the immune system
• helping maintain healthy blood sugar levels
• promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety
• supporting the body’s natural healing processes
Fresh herbs allow us to offer guests a truly authentic taste of nature during their stay.
More Than Just a Cup of Tea
In Ayurveda, healing is not based on one treatment alone.
Daily routines, appropriate nutrition, herbal medicine, yoga, adequate rest, and herbal teas all work together to support the body’s natural ability to heal.
That is why our guests enjoy different herbal teas throughout their stay. Each variety contributes its own unique qualities while adding another small step toward better health.
